Why does IE8 display record URL and not record name? RRS feed

  • Question

  • One of my customer's CRM organizations displays the record URL (e.g. http://<crmserver>:5555/?id={<GUID>} - <Record Type>: <Record Name>) in the IE8 title bar when I log on to their live production system, but when I log on to another hosted CRM 4.0 system, it just displays the record name, which is much more useful.

I'm sure this is a simple setting somewhere on the server, but if anyone could point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

  • Hi Neil,

try if http://jdbausch.blogspot.com/2009/05/internet-explorer-8-title-bar-displays.html solves your problem. I assume the hosted system where it shows correctly is added to a different security zone.

  • Perect! Thanks for your help.

Interesting, the customer's CRM URL was in the Trusted Sites zone, but a custom setting had reverted the 'Allow script initiated windows without size or position contraints' setting to Disable via a group policy. But the same setting was set to Enable for the Internet Zone which is why the hosted site looked OK.

I couldn't find this article myself (with Bing or Google), so thanks for digging it up. Much appreciated.
