  • Hello kizzcroshu,

All computers that come with Windows Pre-installed come with software that will either reinstall or reset windows back to the way it was when you first turned it on.  This software can come on a CD that came with the computer or it may come on a hidden partition on the computer's hard drive.  Each manufacturer includes the software differently, so either consult the documentation that came with the computer or contact the computer's manufacturer (in your case, Toshiba) for assistance in find/using the reinstall/restore software.

    Thank you,

  • Well for this emachine that has that 'pre-installed' once you use a 'repair' disc your option to 'reset' is lost and then they want to charge you for everything. It really bites. I will not buy another emachine or gateway product again.

  • Well it is evident that "reset" means resetting to factory which setting to factory setting. So it is not manufacturers fault. You need normal disk to perform repair.
Recovery disk rarely offer repair option.

  • Get in touch with Toshiba to get the disk. Alternatively restart the computer and press and hold  "0" (zeero) to get recovery to restore the computer to factory setting but this will wipe everything from computer so back up data prior doing this.

    All the best.
