Hi,
There's no forum for genuine 2008 R2. I installed this copy of Enterprise using a genuine ISO from Technet (a technet subscriber myself) and activated it using the key on technet.
Upon trying to downloading windows updates, I get error 0x80070005, after reading dozens of threads and trying different diag's, I am still stuck. I think its somehow related to the WGA / WAT itself, so here's output from the DIAG tool:Diagnostic Report (1.9.0027.0):

Apparently, you inadvertently downloaded and installed the VL (Volume License) edition of Windows Server 2008 (en_windows_server_2008_r2_with_sp1_vl_build_x64_dvd_617403.iso). You need to start over and download and install the conventional Windows Server 2008 R2 with Service Pack 1 (x64)(en_windows_server_2008_r2_with_sp1_x64_dvd_617601.iso) version.

Any suggestions? There doesn’t appear to be anything wrong with Activation.Validation has not been done on this machine – you should attempt that at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate and see what happens. If it passes, you’ll have to look elsewhere for your WU problem – if it fails, come back with a new MGADiag report.

WGA covers Windows XP, Windows Vista and current versions of Windows 7. It does not cover versions of the Windows Server family, such as Windows Server 2008.
