Backup cleanup now and view backup ... daily backup setting ? RRS feed

  • Question

  •

On Saturday in server settings, backup, I selected "cleanup now".

A short while after doing this I logged into the console ... went to backups, view backups ... and on each computer the backups that had been marked for deltion with the trash can icon were gone. Only the current available backups were showing.

Today ... Sunday  when I went to backups, view backups the backups that were marked for deletion at the cleanup are showing again ... and when I go to server settings, backup the only cleanup option available is cancel cleanup. See screenshot.

Also, In backup setting I have set it to keep the daily backup 2 days.

I have had more than 2 days show in view backups ... Are those older backups just overwritten? Why do they still show in view backups?

Both backup screenshots above for backbed and dining above had all backups marked ready and available after the 14th backup before I marked some of them for removal and initiated the server settings in backup to "cleanup now".

Ok ... here is what happened and why I haven't filed a bug report.

The link above points to an article not bug report instructions...

I found some instructions at the beginning of the forum.

I tried to go to connect several times ... they were down .. (at least to me ... I checked  for several hours) and I could not connect to the site.

In the meantime I went to server backup settings and cancelled the cleanup. Then restarted the cleanup. It finished ok and the all the backups were as they should be.

I had difficulty installing the whs toolkit and was planning on a manual submission of the zipped folders as described in the instruction.

However prior to doing that I reinstalled whiist and created some photo web pages from picture folders. One of those contained about 20 cd size folders of images.

Trying to view that web page locked me up and I had to reboot the server. On reboot I was not able to connect to the server console on any of the pc's ... I could remote in... but the connector software would not work. Reinstalling the connector software did not solve the problem either.

The next day I ended up reinstalling the server. (I still couldn't get connect to come up so I had to wait a few hours at the key prompt to get a key). Currently I'm ok with no issues. I removed all  backups and whiist web files from the sharded folders and created new backups.

If the same symtoms appear again I will submit a bug report.

I just didn't want you to think I was ignoring you....
