Enable auditing - any quick way to turn off auditing for all but one field? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We've enabled auditing - by deffault almost every field is being tracked for Common Entities. Not sure if I need to address this problem in the first place as there is autofilter for the Log Summary and perhaps the logs won't be that large in a 10 user system that isn't seeing an unusual amount of edits. Most records go in and then are read.

We had in mind to audit just specific fields in the system. Has anyone written code that would loop though the fields of an entity and turn off auditing? then we would go back in and turn on just the fields we want to audit.

Should we worry about storage space used by the logs? Do they roll off after a period or do we have to maintain the logs to keep them maintained?

  • Hi dcsgroup

I notice that you can disable or enable audit per entity by changing value <IsAuditEnabled> in customization.xml

I not discover yet how to change this per field not whole entity.

Please be aware that it's not supported modification but seems to be working.

  • Hi KG,

Thanks that makes it pretty simple as we are only trying to track a few fields in the account entity.
