I don't get any result in the Office validation RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi! When I started my computer today I found a little star symbol in the "activity field" or whatever it is called. Apparently I have to validate my Office program. So I installed the validation-program and ran it but I didn't get any result. All I got was a link to a page where I can get help to understand the result (but I didn't get any result...).

    So after reading the FAQs I thought maybe my product wasn't activated so I started all the Office programs I have (that I know of) and all of them said that they're already activated. But when I opened Excel and pressed "Activate product" there was first a pop-up saying "The product is already activated" and a second later another pop-up came up saying "This product isn't activated yet, and it has to be activated if you want to validate it" and there was a "Read more" link that just led to the validation-program which gives me no result.

    So I have no idea how to activate my product which is apparently already activated, and I dont know how to validate the product. And I read somewhere that all Office programs will stop working if I don't validate.
    I have Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and all of them are activated. I also have Outlook Express, but I don't know if that is an Office program?

    So please help me!

    Here is my diagnostic report:

  • Hello anabanana345,

    Here is a snippet of your mgadiag report:

    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 101 Not Activated

    Microsoft Word 2002 - 100 Genuine

    Your HP computer has two installations of Office products:  you have a Genuine OEM licensed stand-alone installation of Word 2002, and a not-yet-activated retail licensed installation of Office XP Professional.

    When a longtime-installed and activated installation of Office XP suddenly has trouble remembering whether it is activated or not, those symptoms (as you described) indicate that for some reason the Office XP license file may have been damaged or corrupted.

    To correct this problem, please work thru the Methods in this MS KB support article:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275

    Most people tell us that running the MS FixIt in Method 2 takes care of the problem.  Post back to let us know if it worked for you :-)
