    Is there a way to keep a plugin from firing from another/separate plugin?  We have a process that we want to disable certain plugins while it runs.

    You may not want to do that, as doing so actually has quite some performance impact to the platform. You could possibly use some special columns to differentiate what you want to do, in the plugin code you check the value of such columns, and not execute any plugin code when you don't want to.
