Server backup question what sector size for external drives. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I will start performing server backups next week to external 2TB drives connect to my server either using ESATA or USB.  My question is should I format the drives with the standard 4K sectors or something higher.

    Thanks

I think you should let the server format them.

  • Vail will format the drive when you add it as a backup drive, or add it to server storage. You have no control over this process.
