Hello all,
So here's the deal. A client of ours has a Windows SBS2008 server installed. We want to add a secondary server to the domain, and since he has the Premium package, we will be using the additionnal licence provided with SBS2008. It is a Windows 2008 standard
installation.
Now, I've installed Windows 2008 R2 Standard on a physical server, and added Hyper-V roles to it.
Installed Windows 2008 standard in the virtual machine, entered the key, then got in Windows the first time. As the network card is not first detected, I upgraded the Hyper-V HAL in the virtual machine, rebooted twice WITHOUT doing anything else, and now
I get the wonderful error message "An unauthorized change was made to Windows".
As I read from the forums, this is usually the AV that is messing with system files, but remember that this is a fresh new installation. I tried many things :
-Install Win2k8, Hyper-V HAL update, reboot once, Windows Updates (about 99 updates), reboot once, then get the error
-Install Win2k8, Hyper-V HAL update, reboot twice, then get the error
-Install Win2k8, Hyper-V HAL update, reboot once, install SP2 stand-alone downloaded from Microsoft, reboot, then get the error
-Install Win2k8, Hyper-V HAL update, reboot once, activate Windows, reboot twice, then get the error
-Install Win2k8, Hyper-V HAL update, reboot once, activate Windows, install Windows Updates, reboot once, then get the error
Honestly, what am I supposed to to in this situation??? I am getting tired of redoing the installation everytime, so I did a snapshot of the server right when before he reboots after the files are copied on the VHD, so I do a roll-back to there every time
to save some time.
Please help !!!
