Off Topic:QSI Driver Error RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Have a Dell Inspiron 1000 with a QSI CDRW/DVD SBW242C

Currently unable to use drive and not visible from windows explorer.  Have tried DVDs and CDs.

Had an error in the device manager so I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the driver.

Get an error when it attempts to install.  When I look in device manager. I see this.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)

I tried downloading firmware from Dell but can't find drivers/firmware for QSI under my service tag.

Also performed all updates from windows update.

Finally tried a driver detective software but doesn't find a driver for the cd/dvd even though it sees it.

Trying to find out if there is anything else I can try before I give up on the drive.

My computer is no longer under warranty.  Also QSI website just gives information about a DOS based driver and says to check with manufacturer for specific windows based.

    HELP
