Looking for a general certification exam RRS feed

  • Question

  • Is there a certification which is not tied to a particular technology for beginner level architects who work in Microsoft platform?

I find all the certifications specialised in a particular technology, I am looking for something which would be general.

    Does Microsoft have one?

    Need guidance.

  • Exam 70-300 - Analyzing Requirements and Defining Microsoft.NET Solution Architectures is retired.

    Which exam has replaced this?

  • No they don't.  All certifications relate to specific technologies.

  • Thanks Jeff.

Is there a link where i can search by the exam name for example "Analyzing Requirements and Defining Microsoft.NET Solution Architectures".

Actually I want to know the list of exams available for solution\technical architects other than MCA which is for already practicing architects.

It's not in the list because it no longer exists and there is currently no exam which replaces it.

  • Jeff, could you please recommend an exam or a certification that would be suitable for senior developers who are looking at grooming themselves as solution architects?

I would prefer the certifiction not to be linked to a particular technology, am not sure if that would be possible.

Can they undertake this exam Exam 70-300 - Analyzing Requirements and Defining Microsoft.NET Solution Architectures?

As previously advised, 70-300 is no longer available i.e. no one can sit this exam.

All certifications are linked to a specific technology.  Even the 70-300 was linked to a technology (Microsoft .Net).  Are you a Developer or an IT Professional? Certifications are broken down into the following categories:

    Developer: MCPD Certifications - http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcpd.aspx

IT Professional: MCITP Certifications - http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcitp.aspx

    New MCSA Program: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcsa.aspx

    New MCSE Program: http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcse.aspx

  • Currently am designing frameworks, working with MVC architecture with 8 years of experience as a developer.I want to tune myself as an architect. I havent taken any certification before and am wondering how I should get started to certify myself as a .Net solution architect. Please guide.

  • Please have a look at MCPD Certifications.  You will probably also need to look at MCITP, MCSA and MCSE certifications as a solutions architect also needs to know about servers, dataabases etc.
