Staring new file for new year RRS feed

    What is the process for me to create a new file and bring all the existing details across. 2011 file all balanced.

    There is no good purpose in creating a new file in Money for each year. You should only use ONE file in Money for ALL your data transactions. I have been using Money continuously since 1995 and I have only the original one data file. (which is backed up for protection). The report capabilities in Money allow you to create reports by year (or by month, week, etc). THAT is how you get the information you need. One of my favorite reports is Net Worth over time. This shows me my Net Worth for each year end since 1995 thru 2011 by every account I've used in Money. Good luck. Steve

    I don't disagree with Money User. However File->Archive may be what you are asking for. I don't recommend this, but some people like this process. Those who do it out of a sense of neatness may like the result. Those looking for smaller files or faster performance tend to not get what they hoped for.
