    The License on this install is a Volume License for XP Pro – and the license can only be activated within a certain geographic area, either because the original owner specifically requested that, or because the Key leaked, but the owner didn’t want to fix the PC’s in that area.
     
    For what version and edition of Windows is the computer licensed, according to the COA sticker on the case? (I would not be surprised if you said it was Windows 2000).

  • Its time to retire and recyle that old PC with a non-genuine Windows XP operating system.  You can purchase a new one very inexpensively these days that comes with a genuine Windows 7 operating system preinstalled.
