Error Code 0x80004005 Microsoft Security Essentials

I installed Microsoft Security Essentials running XP

It downloaded & installed without any problem, also passing the windows validation,

But when I try to update it comes up with the

error code 0x80004005.

One other thing I noticed was that although I am connected to the internet, I cannot access www.microsoft.com
