Xp pro to Vista Ultimate RRS feed

  • Question

  • My question is simple. I have Xp Pro 32 bit installed and wanted to know if I can upgrade to Vista Ultimate 64 bit? Will do a clean installation or will I need to buy the full Vista Ultimate 64bit installtion disc?

An upgrade license is sufficient to make the move from XP Pro 32-bit, but the actual installation will be done using the "custom installation" method which is a clean installation:  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/932795/en-us

You have to back up your data before you start the the custom installation or else it will be lost!

  • Thanx it worked great. I just need someone to reassure me that I could do it.
