Can'r connect via Remote Access

Question

Hello,
I am running Windows Home Server on my lan here at home using the HP MediaSmart Server.
I am using Time Warner Road Runner as my hi-speed cable connection ISP. We also use TimeWarner cable television connection and their VOIP telephone service.
Hardware: cable modem: Arris model TM402G/110
router: LinkSys Wireless-G 2.4 gHtz
server: HP MediaSmart Server EX475I have 3 computers of various genre connected to the server, all are backing up as expected and all can Connect to the server and control it. All are running Widows XP Professional SP3, fully patched.
I'm sure that my problem is configuring my router as when I check the status of the router the last two items on the list do not pass the test:
* Verify that your router is accepting Web site connections
* Verify that your router is accecpting Remote Access connectionsI have many years experience as a professional computer programmer but unfortunately too close to the end user level of the model so know very little about hardware and telecommunications. The HP manuals and on-line help have not helped me at all. Does any one have any tips as to where I can go to set up my router to provide these connections?
Thanks in advance,

Please simply try testing your Remote Access web site from a location other than your home. Many routers are unable to correctly process a "loopback" request, where a request from within the home network reaches the router's external port.
I'm not on the WHS team, I just post a lot. :)- Proposed as answer by kariya21Moderator Thursday, February 5, 2009 2:28 AM

Also, which ports are you forwarding through the router. I had a dickens of a time getting through the tests as well, but finally was able to get a green check on everything except '...accept Internet connection'.Saturday, January 31, 2009 3:55 AM

In addition to above, not all ISP will allow port 80 or 443. I don't have all green check marks but I can still access from the WAN. If that is the case, change your IIS ports and WHS Firewall ports. Portforwarding.com can show you how to forward your ports on the router. Heck they even have Cisco IOS command lines. Then you can access via https://blah_blah_blah.com:99. That is if you choose port 99.Good luck!
