Hi CD3,
I have checked the product key listed in the above Diagnostic Report and it shows as Valid and Genuine.
It also shows a number of Activations. This is ok, but it may mean that you need to Activate by Phone instead of over the internet. Please give this a try.
Note: There is a possibility that when you call, the Automatic Phone Prompt won't be able to process the Activation. If so, call again, but this time don't enter anything into the phone prompt, this should force it to transfer you to a Live Activation rep that will assist you in Activating.
Tell us how this worked for you,

Hello CD3,
Looks like you just need to activate.
Press the Windows Key and Pause/Break on the keyboard at the same time to bring up the System Properties page, scroll down to the bottom and click on the Activate Windows link.
Let us know how you do.

It didn't work.
It says: "The product key you typed cannot be used to activate windows on this computer."
I also tried retyping the product key and didn't work either.
I DO have a genuine copy. I have the CD and all!!
Please help, thank you!!!

Hello CD3,
That's one of the error messages you get when you do a clean installation of Windows 7 using retail upgrade media.
Upgrade licenses for Windows 7 have to be started from within the Operating System that is being upgraded.
Just to be sure please verify that:
1. The product key you are entering is the one printed on the yellow-orange Proof of License label that was inside your retail package.
2. The type of Windows license you have is an upgrade. Will be abbreviated UPG on the Certificate of Authenticity and will be noted on both the outer packaging and on the installation disc.

Thank you Dan!
1. the product key I am entering it is the one printed on the yellow-orange Proof of License label that is inside the retail package.
2. The Windows license I have it is an upgrade. But I don't see that "UPG" anywhere in the outer packaging... The box outside says "Windows 7 Professional" and the disc says: "Includes Windows Anytime Upgrade"

Hello CD3,
I think I made a mistake when I wrote that the error message is one that you get when you do a clean installation of Windows 7 with an upgrade license. :-(
After looking again I noticed that this particular installation looks to be on a virtual machine. Is or was this license for Windows 7 Professional installed on any other computer besides the now operational virual machine? I'm doing some searching and I see that the text of the error message you're getting is most common when the product key has been used too many times.
