Product Key Expired? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Win 7 Enterprise, which was recently upgraded from Vista.  (We do now have product keys for Windows 10 Enterprise, just waiting on IT)  Anyway, I am with a small non-profit.  I am receiving a message that my windows is not genuine and I should update my product key.  My IT guy told me to never go to those kind of sites without talking to him (yes, I caught a benign bug a while back.)  Well, my IT guy is out of town right now.  With that said, we received our product keys from Tech Soup, we have 48 available to use.  When I did click on the message (uh-oh) it tells me that my server won't read the page and tries to redirect me.  Being as I did fall for that once, I thought it better to check with you guys and see if this is even a thing.  How do I know if my product key is, indeed, expired?

  • KMS uses a KMS host key to activate itself on a KMS host and to establish a local activation service in your environment. Please connect to your KMS host in order to activate.

  • Thanks Carey - I read our product keys, and apparently we have MAK activations.  I put in the product key and it SAYS that I'm okay now.  At least I am okay until my IT guy comes.
