  •  I did some additional searching and found a backup of my regestry..I found the productID in HK/MS/WindowsNT/CurrentVersion/ProductID.....(which was empty) and stuck in the old value...I restarted the computer,,,and it looks like that fixed the problem...

    Thanks for your help..

PS: There is a reason for backing up your registry!

  • OK...did a restore point....then ran the program...It responded with "This application must be run on a suported version of the Windows XP OS".....then exists....This XP Pro OS is definitely an authorized copy...The email I got from service@microsoft.com on July 23, 2006...Order number  01112010855102 ...provides the Product key (ending in HR7BW as provided in my original trouble ticket) and is installed on this computer!

    OK....what next..??

  •  First, hit Start, hit run.

    type regedit, hit enter.

    navigate to

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\Current Version\WPAEvents

In the right pane, right-click OOBETimer, and then click Modify.

Change at least one digit of this value

    Hit Start, hit run and
    type this:

    %systemroot%\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a

Hit activate by telphone, and then hit change product key.

    Then retype the same PK

    and activate!

  • OK...backed up the key (just incase)....and launched the registration application...I tried the requested change, and the reg application just say's "already registered"...Tried modifying all bytes, and even the last WPA event logged parameter and the same...If I deleted the entire key...the reg applic fails to start....

Restored the Key and back to where I was....Interesting, seems somewhere there is a flag set to indicate un registered....it may not be this one but it does have something to do with the registration process.

Thanks for your time so far. Any other suggestions??
