When viewing by thumbnail, the image previews are all generic icons. RRS feed

  • Question

  • The whole point of me using Live Mesh is to be able to allow other people to view and download the assets I am sharing with them. If we have to use Media View to see a preview (and a blown up blurry one at that!) one at a time, this is terribly inefficient. It would be nice to view several assets with their image previews or at least a more specific application icon rather than a "white dog-earred page" icon or a "picture" icon. I just expected the folders in the "Live Desktop" to mimic a similar look/functionality as a Windows desktop to some extent. Am I missing something here?

  • No, you're not missing anything. The Live Desktop is a "place" and perhaps you could say it mimics the desktop, but it isn't a cloud based application suite. It's simply a storage location with some extra functionality. The future may bring much more functionality, perhaps from 3rd parties even, to the platform, but for now the Live Desktop is simply a convenient web access point to the data you are synchronizing between devices.
Word is that we'll see the services of Live Mesh, Live Sync and SkyDrive somehow merge moving forward, so perhaps we'll see some better representation of the files in the space due to this.
