Issues with Office Enterprise 2007 giving a product not genuine message RRS feed

  • Question

  • The corporation I work for has an enterprise agreement with Microsoft that includes discounts for employees who wish to purchase Microsoft products for home use.   I bought a copy of Office Enterprise 2007 over a year ago and I have been using it without issues.

Yesterday I started getting the 'this is not a genuine product' message when I try top open an MSOffice .doc .xls etc.

  • Hello Harley2009,

Please refer to this snippet of your mgadiag report:

Blocked VLK means that the product key used to install Office Enterprise 2007 was at one time a genuine product key originally issued to a business, educational, or government entity.  However, in cooperations with the original keyholder, the key has been blocked by Microsoft from further use, and that could be for many reasons: it was leaked to the internet, lost, or stolen from the entity; the entity no longer has a valid VL agreement in effect with Microsoft; or Microsoft has noticed much more use of the key that the agreement allows for.

If your use of the key is in conjunction with a business, educational, or governmental entity, please contact your IT department for further information.

Some Volume Licensing Agreements for certain editions of Office have a benefit known as the Home Use Program (HUP), which allows employees to install the same edition of Office used at work onto their home computers for a nominal fee.  Note that the employee's license to use software under the HUP is totally dependent upon the parent company's volume licensing agreement remaining in good standing.  Once again, any problems arising from the HUP should be first reported to and addressed by the organization's tech support staff.

If you are an individual consumer and purchased this copy of Office Enterprise 2007 from a seller, then you should not have been sold Office Enterprise and should certainly not have been given this key by the seller.  Your options at this point include returning to the seller to demand the genuine Microsoft Office that you paid for; to return the software to the seller for a refund; or to read the FAQ to see if you qualify for participation in the Office Genuine Offer:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EKNAC
