windows 7 build 7601 this copy of windows is not genuine-black screen RRS feed

  • Question

  • after we shut our computer down and re-started it the next day, we got a black screen with build 7601 error message and a request to re-enter our product code. trouble is, we don't have it because our windows was installed in the machine when we bought it. MalwareBytes doesn't detect anything and it went right past our virus scanner. Any solution?

  • You have a trusted store tamper.

Such problems are often caused by malware - when was the last time you ran a full system scan with an updated Anti-Virus (which AV is installed?)?

Please download and install  Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from  http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM PRO' at the end of the installation -  and update it, then run a full scan  in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

    Delete everything it finds
