  • Hello johndman,

    "Validation Status: Not Activated"

Your Windows XP Pro installation is not yet activated.  It has to be activated for the Validation system to give you an accurate assessment.

Have you tried Activating yet?  Here's how:

    1.   Look for a set of "keys" in the system tray (aka Notification Area) in the lower right of the Task Bar.  Click on the keys to start the Activation Wizard.

    2.  Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, then click on Activate Windows to start the Activation Wizard.

    3.  If neither of the above is available, click Start>Run, then type in the following:

    system32/oobe/msoobe.exe /a

[Note the space between msoobe.exe and /a]

    Let us know what happens.

  • I dont have a cd to reinstall windows, I had a computer shop reformat my computer for me since I dont know much about computers.

They didnt give me a windows cd or anything and I paid them $360 to reformat and transfer saved information onto a new hard drive, so Im pretty upset that all of a sudden Im having this problem.

I didnt have any problems until i decided to download some updates for windows, then I got the validation pop up saying my windows isnt genuine.

Please help I only have 3 days left until it stops working, I dont have money to take my computer in to get this problem fixed which I shouldnt have to because I paid for windows to be put on my computer in the first place.
