Validation failure

Question
-
when i run the diagnostics i pass everything, but the validation still just redirects me to the Microsoft site with no errors or acknowledgement that i have been validated or not. am i doing this wrong? i went to the link:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag/RunDiags.aspx?displaylang=en
then tried to validate at:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/
validation runs and i get re directed to:
http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/ValidationResult.aspx?displaylang=en&PageName=validate
i have tried this in both IE and Firefox with the same results.

Your link works fine for me in 32-bit IE9 on Win7 - I end up at http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3628&hash=hh954QuKNFD9Ndo1aiWeAT8uP2YNR8uS155N1XzZM%2b9Z8SKK5ovE%2bP5XU2LqTc7%2fEcFhotjHZTD%2b7py2gwnrKA%3d%3d
clicking on the Continue button on the page, after a few seconds the page refreshes, and the Continue button changes to a Download button.
(I see I omitted the '.com' from the link I gave earlier - that's what comes of trying to do too many things at once - use http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag )
I say again - you MUST use Internet Explorer for all validation-related stuff, including downloads.

That's supposed to happen - what actually happens when you get there?
do you see the spinning circle? - does it progress beyond that?
Please go to www.microsoft.com/genuine/diag and see what it has to say.
Then run another MGADiag report, and post the result

i see a spinning circle and a box that says validation in progress. it seems to complete but just redirects me to the windows site that says "welcome to windows"
what i need to know is how do i get the validation code so i can download:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3628
if i just click validate with no code in the box i get sent to back to this:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/genuine
either its not validating me or there is no way to download this update as an installable. i have tried to find it with WSUS 3.0 but it wont show up.

What EXACTLY are you attempting t do that requires validation - it sounds to me as if you're passing validation, but something else is amiss.

i am trying to download a windows update; Group Policy Preference Client Side Extensions for Windows XP (KB943729)
,so i can manually put it on my clients. MS requires that i "validate" my copy of windows before i download this update from the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=3628 for some reason this link may not go straight to the DL so just search Google for "(KB943729) DL" if the link does not work. On the download page, if you select continue, another page appears with two options "continue" or "validate" if i choose "continue" i get prompted to download "genuinecheck.exe" but it does not work. i receive a message from Windows Genuine Advantage stating:
"this version of the Windows Genuine Advantage validation tool is no longer supported. please download the newest version and ensure that your system clock is accurate"
i click OK and that's it. nothing, no redirection to the newest version or anything like that. i have tried to do this process on xp,7 x32 and server 2008R2 x64 in both Firefox and IE.
so, i came upon the method for validation talked about in this thread. because it was the only thing i could find for "validating windows" or "Windows Genuine Advantage validation tool" i figured i could validate and maybe the download would work. after the validation, however i don't receive any codes for my update download so i cant enter the code and proceed to get the update! its all very frustrating, i have been trying to get this update since last Tuesday.

AH HA! i knew i had to be doing something wrong. i guess i must have only tested the validation in IE not the actual download. this kind of thing is the only problem i have with Firefox. i use it so much i exclude the use of other browsers whenever possible. THANK YOU!Friday, August 31, 2012 3:32 PM
