*BUG* WLW Will Not Properly Refresh Blog Settings After Removing Manifest RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have a problem that I could only fix by adding my blog again.

I added a WLW manifest to my site for Movable Type. I used the Update Blog Settings to refresh the UI. It refreshed fine. However, I soon found that I couldn't properly work with categories. I added a SupportsHierarchicalCategories and SupportsAddCategory (or whatever) and that didn't work. So I removed them from the manifest.

I was playing around with posts then and found that it wasn't loading the post's categories correctly. When I hit the Refresh button to renew the categories, I got an error:

    Server Error Client Occurred

Failed to locate method (getCategories) in class (metaWeblog) at /htdocs/cgi-bin/blog-ssl/extlib/SOAP/Lite.pm line 2180.

    That's new, I thought.

I removed the manifest then, making sure to delete it from my root directory, and used the Update Blog Settings again. After it was done... no go. The UI didn't update at all. The capabilities, some of them, turned back to their defaults. But others like Pages still said "Yes" when my blog doesn't support them. Also, the "Manage your blog" shows up when the manifest is gone, which defined the admin URL. So, obviously some things aren't being properly refreshed.

In addition, it wasn't loading the images in my stylesheet at all. That started when I added the manifest and refreshed blog settings.

To fix everything, I had to add my blog again using the wizard, only then did everything go back to normal. However, now I cant remove my old one. There's no "Delete blog" anywhere... so I have a duplicate entry. ARGH.

So there's a bug you need to fix and a feature you need to add.

  • I'm not too sure what's going on with the manifest problems, but in regards to deleting a blog, you can go to Tools -> Accounts... and delete your blog from there.

    Thanks
