BUG: Live Mesh Mac client needlessly touching "Live Id:name" keychain entry

General discussion
-
It appears that the Live Mesh client on for the Mac re-writes the "Live Id:name" keychain entry several times a day, even though the password contained in the entry has not changed. E.g., it seems any time it has to re-authenticate to the server, it re-writes this keychain entry as though the user had entered the password for the first time.
This is an annoyance as I sync my keychains between two different Macs and as a result of this re-write, I get one of MobileMe's "more than 5% of your keychains have been modified" pop-ups several times a day.
Can you please fix the Mac client to only write the "Live Id:name" key when the value has actually changed?
Thanks,
Chris

As an aside, I tried going to Microsoft Connect to enter this as a bug. However, the only option for the "Live Mesh Beta" connection is "start a new discussion". Do we have to get flagged first to be able to create bug reports?
Also, I am assuming that "Live Mesh Beta" is the correct connection (the sticky says "Live Mesh Tech Preview") since you've promoted Live Mesh to beta status now (for Windows, at least).
I am using the same Windows Live Passport ID on Microsoft Connect as I am here on these forums, in case that matters.

This is indeed the correct forum - to lodge a bug send an email with all of the details to lmprev@microsoft.com and while you're at it, include your live id in the email and ask for an invite to the Live Mesh "Connect" site. They'll invite you usually within the day and then you can lodge and track the bug directly.
On that note, for completeness, you should also submit logs to that email (and attach them to the Connect bug). To collect the logs on a mac simply click the Live Mesh icon (top-right corner) and select "Collect Live Mesh Logs" (a .zip will appear on your desktop).
Sounds like a nice catch!Monday, November 24, 2008 12:05 AM -

Hi Chris,
We've opened a new bug to track this. If you could collect your Live Mesh logs as nachmore advised and send email to lmprev@microsoft.com, mentioning bug 25139 in the Subject line, we'd appreciate it. Also, please include the details of the issue, your forum handle, and the title of this forum thread in the body of your email, if you don't mind.
<Edit> nachmore is also correct that if you'd like access to the Live Mesh Connect site, in order to file bugs that way, you need only send your Live ID to lmprev@microsoft.com and request access. Please send this request in its own email, however, so that it does not get overlooked in your other email.
Thank you for helping us test Live Mesh,

I got my Live Mesh invite for Microsoft Connect earlier today. I tried searching by feedback ID for bug 25139, but that didn't return any hits. Nor did searching for "Live Id:name". Is there a way for me to access this bug directly from Microsoft Connect to attach logs directly that way and 'subscribe' to the bug?
Both Macs are currently at home, so I won't be able to upload logs until I get home in another 5-6 hours or so.

Hi Chris,
Sorry for the confusion. That bug # is internal Microsoft only; there is no Connect Feedback on this yet. If you can email your logs to us at lmprev@microsoft.com, we'll add them directly to the internal bug. If you would prefer to open a new bug through Connect and upload your logs that way, feel free to do so. In that case, however, it would help if you posted the Connect Feedback ID here after you open your bug, so that I can link it with the one we have open already.
Thanks,

I created a bug feedback entry at Microsoft Connect and attached log files from each of the Macs I am using. The Connect feedback number is 383760.
