    In the past, I've been able to fix my Head phone/microphone problems at the "sound" icon of the control panel...figure out what you need to turn on or off, and go from there.

    I am not real clear on your question are you saying that you no longer see what you used to see? And have you upgraded or changed something?  You can always left click on your volume icon on your task bar provided you have the option selected to display it there and choose "properties" and get to all of your sounds configurations.
