  • Hello bertmace26,

My understanding is that the WAT update, at this stage of the deployment, was only supposed to be visable to a limited number of geographical regions. There appears to have been a glitch with Windows Update that was allowing regions that were not yet scheduled to receive the update, to see it.

This has been corrected.  This means that if you are not in one of the targeted regions, the Update will no longer be available to you thru Windows Update (even if it was listed as an available update, in the past).

As Ron0609 mentioned, you can still download and install the update either by following the download links listed in the WAT Update Support doc http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/971033?p=1 or by running an online Validation at http://microsoft.com/genuine (click the Validate Windows button).

As for what regions are receiving the WAT Update, I have not been told.

    Thank you,

  • Interesting, the latest bios I can find is from 08/2008 but you have one from 05/2009. What model is the desktop and do you have a link to that bios version download?
Download and run MGAdiag and paste the results in your thread go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012

Pardon my ignorance, but how can you be a Moderator or Admin if your profile states you just signed up today?

I am looking for an official response from Microsoft or from one of the Moderators/Admins.

    Thank You,

  • As Darren says, if you need the WAT, just go to www.microsoft.com/genuine and validate.  You will get the same bits here; and if you fail genuine validation you will be offered a  W7 license at a reduced price.

  • A BIOS mod for a retail version? How would that work? Anyway, you (Bertmace and/or Brainsuck) did your best to castrate the reports (where's the "other data" part with hardware info?), so don't complain if one could get the impression that something smells fishy.

Btw, nothing is more amusing than cat-and-mouse games.
