program will NOT open

Question
-
I installed OneCare Live. The computer re-booted. Then while trying to finish, I get the MS box saying: Windows OneCare Live has encountered a problem and has to close. "sent to MS". and it shuts down. It will NOT open.
I uninstalled it and re installed it. SAME THING.
And there is NO freakin' phone number anywhere to call. only this. Why won't it open?

Hello RodCPA, check to see that Terminal Services is running. To do this open Start>Run enter "services.msc" without the quotes in the Run box. In the Services Console scroll down to Terminal Services and double click it. If the service is stopped, start it and set the Startup type to Automatic. If this does not resolve the issue please contact support. How to reach support - http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/30400b52-7f26-4ba0-bc18-17e305329d90

It didn't work. and of course there is no one to call because MS doesn't want calls. they want us to spend hours writing emails, posts, trying it and then waiting to get a response like this when THAT doesn't work.Wednesday, January 7, 2009 9:15 PM

This might be a .Net Framework 2.0 issue. The topic is covered in online Help, but I can’t link to the specific page: http://help.live.com/help.aspx?mkt=en-us&project=onecarev2
If you have this problem with Vista you can refer to this thread: http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/onecareinstallandactivate/thread/7975a9cb-66b2-49f8-a83f-3f33b3c3b2d4/

- The problem can be as simple as the date and time on the PC being incorrect.
- It can also be due to required services not running, such as Terminal Services, as Jim mentioned.
- It can be due to .Net Framework issues, such as GreginMich mentioned. I'll paste the information on how to repair .Net framework below.
- It can also be due to a conflict with other security software that has not been fully removed.
Jim has provided a means for you to reach support unofficially. If none of the above resolve your issue, please contact support. To repair .Net Framework 2.0 on XP:
Open Control Panel
Select Add or Remove Programs
Locate Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0
Select the entry and when the installer launches, select Repair.
Reboot when it completes.
Alternatively, see this KB article:
