Impossible to reactivate after formatting

Question

I can hardly find there's a way to reactivate the windows live one care after formatting hard disks because of the message, 'the number is being used', even though the expiration date set is December 04, 2008.
I'd like to be answered for this inconvenience

When you reinstall OneCare you must activate with the same LiveID that you used to create the subscription with the original activation. The key cannot be used again. If you signed in and it asked for payment or a key, you are not using the same LiveID. Since you see the expiration date of 12/04/08, I assume that you are either looking at http://billing.microsoft.com for your subscription or your subscription confirmation email. Use the same LiveID and your reinstall will be hooked up with your existing subscription.

I installed this program only a couple months ago and it crashed. I couldnt uninstall or reinstall so I bough another virus program. My Nortons fixed a few problems and I was able to reinstall. Now I want to try it again by removing the Nortons and continuing with the live one care. As far as I know, I only have one live ID. I can log in and brows around as a member but it says "looks like you need a subscription" I can't seem to reactivate this computer. I'm ready to give up after two weeks of trying to get it back up to date. It says the regular stuff... The product key is already in use... but like I said I only have one ID that I know of and cant get the program reassociated with this computer. Any suggestions before I send the disc to the shredder and write it off as a time consuming Bad experience??? Thanks, David M. Jones

Hi, David. Sorry to read that you had a bad experience with OneCare in the past and now are having problems when you try to activate once again.
If you have an active subscription, which is what was created when you activated on the first computer, you need to use the same LiveID on the subsequent activations. You can't use the same key twice. If you are arriving at a screen to purchase or provide a token, you are likely not using the same LiveID as the subscription ID.
If you don't recall the LiveID you used for your subscription, you will need to contact support who can provide that information to you using your Key and/or contact information.

Alternatively, sign in at http://billing.microsoft.com with email addresses that you have set up as LiveIDs and one will show your subscription listed - that would the LiveID to use to activate with.
If the activation dialog already contains a LiveID from a prior attempt or one used in trial mode, but this is not the one you need to activate with to associate it with your subscription, see this post for how to reset this - http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsOneCare/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2776450&SiteID=2
