Windows not genuine?

Question
-
I think I am having the same issue as the OP. This machine was installed with Windows 7 years ago before I worked for the company (actually it looks like it may have been downgraded from Windows 8, but that's only because there's a little Windows 8 sticker on it, but no product key). Suddenly the machine no longer thinks it is a genuine copy of Windows. We do NOT use any sort of volume licensing or KMS host. I downloaded the update at the link you posted. I ran that update. I rebooted, but no luck. This is the MGADiag output (same as before except last digit of "ID" incremented by one):

I HATE THIS ERROR MESSAGE YOU GOT:
Licensing Data-->
C:\Windows\system32\slmgr.vbs(1333, 5) (null): 0xC004F012It's very, very difficult to diagnose as it basically says 'something went wrong but don't ask me what it was!'
Best I can think to do is a general file check...
Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.
You will be told that the drive is locked, and the CHKDSK will run at the next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The CHKDSK will take a few hours depending on the size of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally (possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC.
SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on Start > All Programs > Accessories
Right-click on the Command Prompt entry
Select Run as Administrator and accept the UAC prompt - the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up.
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter key
Wait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Upload the CBS.log file (compressed, please!) to your OneDrive or DropBox Public folder, and post a link - also post a new MGADiag report.

Just FYI I had this error message pop-up when running the update:
[Window Title]
Optional update delivery is not working
[Main Instruction]
You may be a victim of software counterfeiting.
[Content]
To use all Microsoft Windows® features, such as all updates from Windows Update; get the latest updates; and receive product support, your copy of Microsoft Windows® must be validated as genuine.
Go online and resolve now
[Close]Is that just a warning, or did it prevent that update from being installed?
