PC Backup fails at 53%

Question
-
In the last couple of days my PC backup has started failing at 53%. The C drive backs up OK but the D (data) drive fails.
Have run Chkdsk on the D drive and no errors found and no odd behavious noticed on the PC
Any ideas anyone?

Try repairing the backup database. If that doesn't fix the issue, checking all the drives in your server for errors is the next step.

Yes, repaired the database but did not fix it
Do I just run chkdsk on the server as I did on the PC?

Please follow the procedure outlined in the FAQ I linked.

Apologies - I just read it as text and didn't spot it was a link
I will try that.
In the meantime, my laptop is backing up fine but the PC doesn't, failing at anywhere rom 52% to 59%

Well, I have run that file on my server and after chugging away for several hours I am pleased to say that no errors appear in the logs. However, the backup of my PC still stalls at 52%.

Have unticked the D drive in Back up configuration so only the C drive is backed up and it backs up fine. Let WHS delete all the D drive back ups (after taking a copy!) and let WHS repair the database. Then reticked the D drive and tried a back up but it still stalls at 52%. So, to sumarise
PC C drive backs up fine
LAptop C & D drives back up fine
PC C & D drive backup stalls at 52%

Yuck -- it's weird that it always happens about in the same place --
that makes it sound like a corruption issue somewhere that's making
the server not respond.
Not sure how you'd go about fixing it though. I'd probably try
copying all the data off of D:, formatting it, then copying the data
back and see if that helps, but I have no clue if it would pertain to
your problem.
Do you have any kind of VSS errors around that time?

Would I be correct in guessing that 53% is the point where WHS starts to back up the D: drive?
If so, I had a very similar problem. I tried a CHKDSK /R, deleting the backup database, even completely rebuilding the server. In the end, I resolved the problem by reinstalling Windows on the workstation.
