Can’t configure CRM 2011 Outlook Client RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have updated our CRM 4.0 Rollup 16 x86 version (Language 1043) to CRM 2011 Rollup 2 (Language 1043).

CRM 2011 is installed on a windows 2008 R2 Standard server (Language 1033) with server name AS-CRM.

SQL 2008 R2 Enterprise is installed on a windows 2008 R2 Enterprise server (Language 1033) with server name AS-SQL.

For CRM we have use a service account AS-CRMsrv for the service’s and AS-CRMSB for the Sanbox service.

There are the following SPN names

    For as-crmsrv:

    HTTP/AS-CRM

    For as-crmSB:

    MSCRMSandboxService/AS-CRM

    http://as-crm.xxxx.xx

    http://as-crm

SQL is also installed with as Service account called AS-SQL.

The microsoft E-mail router is running on the CRM server, our exchange server is a window 2003 x64 machine with exchange 2007.

The update is done using the following steps:

A clean installation of CRM 2011.

Restored the *.bak file of the CRM 4 database on the new SQL server.

Used the option Import Organization to import the CRM 4 organization.

We are using only one binding on port 80, no hostheader.

This all went well and CRM could be started from the server and the clients using IE.

    Installed the E-mail router.

The local machines run Window XP  , vista and win 7 and use Outlook 2010.

Installation of the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Outlook Client goes without any problem.

When we start the configuration Wizart, we can fill in the server URL and is will discover the Organization.

When the Wizart is adding the organization, around halfway it gives the following error message:

There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server.

The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

    Followed by:

There is a problem communicating with the Microsoft Dynamics CRM server.

The server might be unavailable. Try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

    And:

Cannot configure the organization for Microsoft Dynamics CRM for Outlook.

Try to configure the organization again. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

We tried different options but all didn’t work.

    Thanks in advanced,

  • We performed a completed new installation of the CRM Server. Reinstalled Windows Server 2008, Reinstalled CRM with a new installation and imported the exciting organization database. After this we were able to connect the CRM Outlook Client.

  • I added an ADMIN level Sercurity Role to the User.  Then launched config - all worked as expected.  I then removed the admin sercurity role, and CRM for Outlook continued to work as expected.

    Office 2010

    Win7
