OneCare is *supposed* to update automatically. If something is broken, you'll get a warning about update problems.

  • Bill,

Are you replying to another post? Who's Mike?

Are you using Windows Live OneCare or is this a problem with Windows Updates?

Have you tried the Windows Update Solution Center - http://support.microsoft.com/ph/6527

  • Steve, I clicked on your link and all I got was a page of error reports. I have seen this page before when I have contacted MS to find out what my update status really was (as opposed to OneCare's fictitious version). I don't recall which particular hoops I jumped through to get to the MS updates page, but when I got there it confirmed for me that I was bang up to date for all updates, and as OneCare is continuing to tell me that (a) I am missing important updates and (b) that it is unable to contact MS, I have decided that the most economical option is to (a) ignore OneCare's messages and, probably, (b) not renew my subscription.

If you go to Windows Updates, and see errors in the Update History, that would seem to indicate that you are indeed missing an important update.

If, on the other hand, you mean that you got an error navigating the forum links, there are currentl forum problems.

Before you write off the OneCare report as being false, visit Windows Update and click on the link to view your udpate history.
