View Log Is Empty RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I go to the SyncToy 2.0 menu "File" -> "View Log", the resulting display panel is blank.  I suspect it has to do with a long running synctoycmd job.  The file "C:\Documents and Settings\<userid>\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\SyncToy\2.0\SyncToyLog.log" is present and contains data.  The SyncToyLog.log file has not been updated since the start of the synctoycmd job although SyncToy and other synctoycmd jobs have been ran since then.  Is this the intended functionality?

  • Hi -

We put information into the log primarily at the end of the sync - the sync either completed or was aborted. A long running sync will put nothing into the file. After the sync is complete - please let us know if you still do not see anything.

    Thanks

  •    The log entry as displayed by the SyncToy UI was empty.  No text was in the viewing panel.  At the same time, I could go look in the SyncToyLog.Log file and see that it was not empty.  That may or may not have been related to the long running job.

I tried to reproduce the problem today and was unsuccessful.  Even though a job has been running for the last 12 hours the log is currently visible.  I'm not sure how to see the problem again.

       But thanks for your comments.
