  • Question

  • Hi

Im a telecoms engineer with 15 years experience on various telephone systems. The past 5 years have been a constant learning curve on networking and general IT maintenance.  My boss would like me to study for a 'data' course and having searched online I've decided that the microsoft accreadited exams would benefit my day to day job more than doing the CCNA course.  The problem is I would need online training as I still need to do my 9am-5pm job and self training is not an option as I'm not in an IT environment everyday with qualified technicians on hand to learn from.

I need to go back to my boss with the relevant course I want to do, the price, where to do the course(online but with which company) and which exam.

Or is there a complete course out there that I can complete part time and sit an exam under one roof.  I've seen the boot camps advertised and Im really not interested in them.  Im not in a hurry.

I would to get from the course a more in depth knowledge of networking, routing, servers, exchange servers, maintenance and network management of small companies.

Hope I've explained myself correctly and hope someone out there can help me find the right answers.

    Cheers

    Paul

  • Hi Paul,

You may want to look at the following certifications,

MCITP: Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008 (focuses on Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, Security, Remote Access, etc.)

MCITP: Enterprise Messaging Administrator on Exchange 2010 (Focus on Exchange Server 2010 and messaging topolgies)

MCITP: Lync Server Administrator 2010 (Since you have experience in telephony, this would be in your interest)
