You appear to have run the MGADiag report while in Safe Mode - please run it again while in Normal Mode.

  • I can't enter normal mode, when I try all I get is a black screen with a small message on the bottom right hand corner that states that my software is not genuine. I'm only able to get onto my computer in safe mode.

Win 7 doesn't go into Reduced Functionality mode just because of a non-genuine status  - have you tried leaving it for 10 minutes or so for the desktop to come up?

    What Anti-Virus are you using?
Boot to Safe Mode with Networking, and download, install, update and run MalwareBytes Anti-malware (Free - www.malwarebytes.org do NOT enable the real-time scanner) and delete everything it finds.

The try booting to Normal Mode.

    That's a lot better :)

The error is not one I recall having seen before in these forums (cannot create a file when that file already exists) - but I suspect that it means that the Licensing Store is corrupted.
    Recreate the Licensing Store
    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Run MGADiag again, and post the report, together with details of any error messages encountered.

  • once i type step five it says "the system cannot find the path specified."

after step six it says "the system cannot fine the file specified."

and after i input steps eight and nine an error pops up and says "an error as occurred" and when i select more details it says,

    Code: 0x800700B7

Description: Cannot create file that already exists.

    Strange!
    please click on Start
    in the Search box, type
    %windir%
    and hit the Enter key
You should get a Windows Explorer window opening at C:\Windows
    Does this happen?
Open an Elevated Command Prompt window (as in lines 2-3 above)
    at the prompt, type
    cd \
    hit the Enter Key
now type the following - hit the enter Key each time
    cd %windir%
    cd ServiceProfiles
    cd NetworkService
    cd AppData
    cd Roaming
    cd Microsoft
    cd SoftwareProtectionPlatform

At what point (if any) do you get an error message?
If you get no error, it means that you typed  line 5 incorrectly - proceed as follows
Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
    Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    Type: net start sppsvc
    Type: slui.exe
This should bring up the Activation dialog - do as prompted there.
    reboot

Run another MGADiag report, and post back with your results.
