Changing Computenodes from one head node to another Head node RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

1)I am having HPC Head Node set Up with 4 compute node. Suddenly my Head node is down and I would like to convert one of my compute node to Head Node and Remaining 2 Compute Node pointing to new Head Node.

    My approach:
Un install the 1 Compute Node HPC Set up & Install HPC As Head Node

Un install the 2 Compute Nodes & Install again HPC Client utilites with the New Head node

2.How to Change Computenodes from one head node to another Head node

Is there any easier for this without uninstalling the Existing Setup

    Thanks & Regards

  • Your approach is the right way.

The easiest way to move them over is to reinstall the HPC Pack on the Compute Nodes and point them to the Head Node.  Alternatively, there is a HN name registry key (Not sure what it's called but you can use the Registry Search in regedit); if you change that the node will now contact the other HN.
