Misleading Windows Vista product information - packaging RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Having lost my last operating system due to a disc failure, I was forced to purchase a copy of Vista (having no other choice) from PC World.

On the box - it has a selection guide for which product I needed to purchase.  Seeing as I only fax and use MS Office, I guessed that the staggering price of nearly £200 would cover the basics quite well - so I purchased Home Basic.

On the box, it mentions nothing about the fact that the fax feature is only covered by Home premium and/or Business and/or Ultimate - Therefore I could only assume that a simple fax feature is cover by all versions as it was in 95, 2000 and XP.

Now, having purchased the product, I am informed (I had to find this out from the Internet), that I have to upgrade - and of course pay more money.

I feel that I have been mis-sold the product, and that this was a stealth cost that was not made clear or transparent on the product guide.

    Shame on Microsoft.
