Question

Hi,
I am getting the non genuine pop ups. I did do a bios up date not long before they started happening, and have only installed one program recently, I havent been able to uninstall that program as vista wont let me, even in safe mode it still wont let me un install it.
Iv tried the net start slsvc but it comes up with system error 53507 "The system cannot find message text for message number 0xd103 in the message file for BASE"
Any help would be great.
Derek

Hi Derek,
In your Diagnostic Report it shows the error code "Online Validation Code: 0x80070426". This means that the Software Licensing Service has stopped. Vista uses this service to check itself and confirm it is Genuine. When the servise is stopped, Vista throws errors. There is no indication why the service has stopped.
You mentioned that you tried the net start slsvc command, but would you confirm that you followed all the below steps (especially running CMD.exe as Administrator)
If you have acces to the Start button:
1) Click the Start button
2) Type: cmd in the Start Search field
3) At the top the Start window, you will see cmd.exe
4) Right Click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: net start slsvc
If you do not have access to the Start button:
1) Click the option Access computer with reduced functionality
2) A Browser will open, type: %windir%\system32 into the address field
3) Find the file cmd.exe
4) Right Click on the cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator
5) Type: net start slsvc
Thank you,

Hi Derek,
This issue appears to be deeper then I can effectively support thru the Forums. I suggest creating a (no cost) WGA Support Request at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52029. They will provide you with aditional assistance in getting this service started.
Thank you,

Also, you may want to try going into a Elevated CMD and typing Chkdsk /f and then aftward, reboot and then do a repair using your Vista DVD.
