Cloud-Cloud Data Migration RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • It would be great if there was a service that allowed me to move my data from another cloud (say S3 (JungleDisk), DropBox, Box.net etc..) into Live Mesh.

Basically I want to give my details to the Mesh and ask it to copy the data from my other cloud service into a predefined folder in Mesh. I do not want to do this from my PC as in many countries we have data caps and moving multiple GB down to my pc and back up to Mesh just exhausts my BW...

This would be extremely useful as a mechanism for people to migrate their fragmented cloud data stores into Mesh

  • Hey Mike,

As a capped user myself I can see how this would be useful, I imagine that once Live Mesh goes full live (or even more open beta) with programability support you'll see some 3rd party tools to do that. Whether or not they'll take the download from you though, is another question (since someone will be paying for it somewhere).
