  • Question

  • I have an old map made on "streets" which displays a number of points and gives their coordinates.  I've created a table of points to add to an arcmap GIS file but it won't project properly.  Is there a default projected coordinate system for "streets" or how can I figure out what coordinate system was used?

  • The coordinates used by MapPoint, Streets & Trips, etc. are geographic decimal longitude, latitude. The Western and Southern Hemispheres are negative (ie. the US is typically negative longitude, positive latitude).

The geoid is WGS-84 (the same as the GPS Navstar system, and due to this supported by most if not all sat-nav type devices).
