OLAP Cube Build Failures Error: The connection either timed out or was lost. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we're serviced by a cloud vendor who hasn't been able to troubleshoot our OLAP Cube Build failures.  The build fails in 30 minutes, well under the 60-minute default limit.  Is it possible there's a cube size limit which we're exceeding?  BTW, we'rve been go-live only a few weeks, so there's more data to come.  Please advise as to what may be causing this error.  We're dead-in-the-water for reporting from these cubes, which haven't built successfully for several weeks.  Originally, they were building, with less data, in only a few minutes (i.e. 3-6 minutes).  Thanks for your help.

  • Could you please post some more details? Are you using SQL Server 2005 or 2008, PS 2007 or PS 2010? Also, what kind of conenction your vendor is using to provision the OLAP Cubes?

As a starter, please see the common connectivity issues and resolutions here : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc917670.aspx#EBAA, specifically, your error seems to point to either 1) The ASP.net version mismatch or 2) Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Analysis Services 9.0 OLE DB Provider is not installed on the IIS computer.
