[Research Use] Do we have access to "chord transition matrix" or the "note distribution vector"? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello guys!

I'm a grad student studying digital musics working on a project that needs a probabilistic model of chord progression & notes available for melody, and wanted to know if "chord transition matrix" and "note distribution vector" as described in their patent document is available for public use. If it is, do you guys know where to access it? Didn't have any luck looking through the papers or the patent document.

    Thanks for the help!

  • Yes, you not only have access to the transition matrix and observation vectors, you already have them on your computer if you've installed Songsmith.  I would start here:

    http://research.microsoft.com/~dan/chords/

...where you'll see both the original transition matrices and some new ones that came from a related research project, along with documentation for the file format.  Good luck!
