Bandwidth Limit WHS 2011 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been trying out WHS for a couple of weeks now and it
has been great.  I have had a couple of issues I can’t seem to
resolve.  It seems when streaming video from the server to another
computer on or off my local area connection the max throughput is around 3
    M.  Bandwidth is not a problem for me because I work for an ISP and the
server is setting on the backbone.  When I run a speed test I see around
100 M Up and Down.  My server specs are AMD Athlon II X4, 4 GB DDR3 Memory,
1 TB Hard Disk, and WHS 2011.  The other issue I have had is when
uploading files from a remote location the connection also has a 3-4 M
limit.  My questions are, is there a way to increase this bandwidth limit,
how many remote streaming sessions “video” is the server capable of at one
time, and do I need better hardware to accomplish any of this.

  • I changed my video stream quality from best to medium and am now able to stream to multiple devices.  It may be possible I was asking to much of my Athlon II.  Video still looks really good and my bandwidth has increased to 10 M upload from my server.  I think this has fixed my problem.  Thanks for the response.

  • I have no problem streaming BluRay from my server directly to my TV so considerably more bandwidth than you are experiencing. I have a GB LAN Athlon II X3 and 4GB memory so there is no reason your hardware should not achieve similar or better performance.
