Windows Update with Microsoft Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • I'm having a problem getting the ActiveX to install and it is causing windows updates to not install.  This problem began on 3 Jul 09 and everything I've tried has not fixed the probem.  Running diagnostics, I get the following:

    Passed Active scripting allowed
    Passed Display images enabled
Passed Computer time and date correct
    Passed Cookies enabled
    Passed ActiveX enabled
    Failed Windows validation ActiveX loaded
    Failed Office validation ActiveX loaded
    Failed Validation Self-help ActiveX loaded

I tried the manual install of ActiveX with no luck.  When I try to go to the download page I get the "Internet Explorer Can not Display the Web Page".

    Any ideas?

  • Hello Smudger10,

I recommend that you post this inability to install ActiveX Controls (as well as the inability to see the Micrsosoft Download site) in the Internet Explorer section of the Vista Answeres forum http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/threads

I'm not trying to "Pass the Buck", I just think you would receive better assistance from people that work on ActiveX issues on a daily basis.

Sorry I couldn't be more help,
    Darin MS
