Did you install the driver for your audio card? If you have not installed it, go the audio card manufacturer's web site (or to the computer manufacturer's web site, if you have a branded PC), find the audio driver, download it and install it; restart your system and verify that the audio section is working fine.
If you have installed the driver and any other necessary software, open the Windows Device Manager and check the status of the audio section to see if there's some error reported: right click the icon related to the audio card and choose "Properties" to get more detailed informations about the audio card's problems that are preventing it from working fine.

    Bye.
