Minor issue I'm having with the Remote Access site... RRS feed

  • Question

  • I created a temporary directory to put some videos in while I messed around with their file names but after I deleted the directory, the videos still appear in the Remote Access "Browse Videos" section as unplayable files.

Is there a way to remove these? They're cluttering up the page.

  • I have had similar issues, the only way I could resove was to delete the media player database and let it recreate it. The database is here C:\Users\MediaStreamingAdmin\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player\, then stop and start the media server from within the console to get it to rebuild.

Not really ideal but it worked for me.

  • Someone else in another thread proposed this solution but I can't seem to get the player library to rebuild after restarting the media server.

Do I need to do something else to get it to rebuild the database?

  • Might need a reboot of the home server first so that media player starts again in the background

  • Try opening media player on the home server
