Using Exclude File in XCopy RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

The great X-Copy command has helped me a lot in automating daily process, deploying the applications in webfarms etc.
But I have nothiced an issue in the same.

I would like to notice the issue with examples :

Ex 1 : I have developed a web application in VB.NET and want to deploy the same into servers. So wrote a
batch file (which is used by nANT) to deploy in the webfarm. I used "Exclude" attribute in the XCopy command
where I listed the file extensions(for instance .vb,.vbproj etc) not to be copied for the deployment. Hence it was successfully deployed.

Ex 2 : I have developed the same web application in C#.NET and carried the same process as of Ex 1. But here in "ExcludeText" attribute in the
XCopy command I listed the file extensions(for instance .cs,.csproj etc) not to be copied for the deployment.  But it also didnt copy my .css(styles)
files as well. Then I noticed that as I have mentioned .cs in the list in Exclude file it is not copying any file having .cs and also the files
starting with .cs. So the deployment went wrong.

How can we resolve this issue?
