Sync resource pool with Samba 4.6 Active Directory RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all.

    I got the following situation:

There is the Active Directory built on Samba 4.6 (this is historical artifact and cannot be removed or replaced).

Also there is the SharePoint Server 2013 SP1 connected to this AD, all users added to it can login and use it.

The Project Web App is created there, AD users can login to it.

The problem occurs when I try to make synchronization of resource pool with AD.

I got the error "The field contains local or unresolved objects".

Wireshark shows me that the cause is the incorrect LDAP request, it goes to port 389 instead of 3268.

Wireshark also shows me that the previous LDAP request from People Picker goes to the correct port 3268 and got the correct response from AD.

I must not replace Samba AD with MS AD because for reasons not depending on me.

Does anyone meet any similar problem?

    Does anyone solve it anyhow?

    Thanks in advance.

That's a very interesting scenario that you describe.  I didnt realize that other AD could be used.  However, the documentation shows that only Windows Servers are support for AD sync.

You might be able to get around this constraint by building your own sync software and connecting it to the events handlers that are available.  Server Side Event Handlers are found in the SharePoint Central Admin, under General Application Settings / PWA Settings

  • Michael,

    Thank you for reply.

We finally have come to the same decision, I mean - to build our own sync software.

I had uploaded resources from CSV, this is actually the one-time operation, and now my duty is to make changes in resource pool manually until sync software becomes ready. In our case this is quite rare operation.

I hope one day we will migrate to MS AD :)
